ICW Mission Statement

The mission of Inclusive Community Wellness Inc. (ICW) is to empower individuals from under-served New York City communities to improve their health, well-being and productivity by providing groundbreaking wellness programs where they live, work and play.

Our qualified team of diverse wellness professionals will work in close collaboration with community members and local organizations to develop results-oriented programs—including exercise / fitness, nutrition, mindfulness, aquatics, applied technology, leisure / recreation, health education, yoga and mental health enhancement—for children and their families, adults and seniors

ICW Vision Statement

Our vision is to implement a comprehensive community fitness and wellness model that not only inspires positive and healthy lifestyle choices by every individual with whom we engage but also promotes the development and dissemination of life-altering content, programs and outcomes.

We intend to implement our demonstrated model—first in community agencies, schools and colleges throughout the New York City metropolitan area—and then nationwide, enabling ICW to directly benefit thousands of children and adults living in vulnerable communities.

 

Goals and Activities

ICW’s primary focus is to reduce health inequity and increase participation in wellness and fitness activities in communities where obesity, diabetes, coronavirus, unemployment and crime are pronounced, and resources are limited. Specifically, our goals are as follows:

• Improve the health and fitness of children, youth, adults and seniors in underserved communities through individualized personal training sessions and group fitness classes, including aerobic dance, Pilates, resistance training, sport-specific conditioning, functional fitness training, health technology programs, obesity prevention, weight management;

• Enhance wellness education and healthy practices through a holistic approach focused on nutritious diets, physical activity, recreation, sleep, stress-management, mindfulness and yoga, disease education and prevention, health coaching and goal-setting and social-leisure activities;

• To increase multi-sports participation and personal development through motivational coaching, sport-technical skill instruction, guided leadership opportunities and life skills training;

• Develop swim skills for safety, social inclusion and life-long learning, including mastery of fear, teaching determination and promoting life-long fitness enjoyment. Promoting competition as a member of a swim, water polo or life-saving teams;

• Develop community partnerships with local health care organizations, community leaders and leading practitioners to share resources, ideas and best practices, to achieving mutual goals;

• Prepare young people for success in higher education and job employment through programs that teach essential soft skills, including teamwork, communication, literacy, interpersonal relations, work ethic, problem-solving, personal health management and adaptability.
